The Governor of the Chickasaw Nation has recommended amendments to the act to eliminate discrimination against Oklahoma Indian Tribes. President Lyndon Johnson has also proposed expanding housing aid for low-income families as part of a campaign against poverty. The Task Force on Indian Affairs has recommended allowing Indian tribes to establish housing agencies and participate in the program. The current limitations on participation by Indian tribes in Oklahoma are seen as frustrating and unfair.";
