- Description:
- Alcoholism is a major problem among American Indians, with epidemic levels of alcohol abuse on reservations and in urban areas. The issue is considered to be five times worse among Indians than non-Indians in the United States, and nearly all Indians are affected by alcoholism in some way. A new regional alcoholism council for Indians has been formed to address the problem.
