- Description:
- Mrs. Elizabeth Sweeney wrote to Congressman Page Belcher on April 4, 1969, requesting him to use his influence to keep the Chilocco Indian School under the Bureau of Indian Affairs rather than contracting it out. Congressman Belcher responded by assuring Mrs. Sweeney that he is in contact with the Bureau of Indian Affairs regarding the matter and will do everything he can to keep the school. He also sent Mrs. Sweeney copies of letters he received from the Bureau of Indian Affairs regarding the situation at Chilocco.
