The Bureau also mentioned that the Cherokee Nation's claims were being prosecuted before the Indian Claims Commission, and there was no authority to add names to the Cherokee Roll. Belcher reassured Mrs. Bateman that he would continue to investigate and provide updates as soon as he received more information.
