- Description:
- H.R. 4967, H.R. 5078, and S. 721 authorize appropriations for the Indian Claims Commission for Fiscal Year 1974. The Commission was established to hear and decide Indian tribal claims against the United States. Congress has extended the Commission's deadline multiple times, with the current expiration set for 1977. Additional funding may be needed for the Revolving Loan Fund administered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to help tribes prosecute their claims. An amendment may be offered to provide more funding for the Loan Fund.
