Schwabe regarding the Patman Housing bill pending before the House of Representatives. He urged Schwabe to either send the bill back to the Banking and Currency Committee for further review or to vote against the amendments. Newlin also expressed his support for continuing the OPA with modifications, particularly in regards to rent control. He suggested allowing property owners to increase rents by a reasonable percentage to cover increased costs of operation and accumulated depreciation. Newlin requested Schwabe's support in these matters and recommended seeking information from the National Association of Real Estate Boards in Washington, D.C. He hoped to hear back from Schwabe promptly.";
