- Description:
- Congressman Wesley Disney introduced a bill in Washington to appropriate $776,742 for full payment of claims to the Osage tribe under a treaty from 1868. The claim arose from the sale of tribe lands in Kansas, with the funds intended for the education and civilization of the tribe. The Osage tribe has been seeking settlement of the claim for many years, and a committee of agency and tribal officials is enroute to Washington to arrange meetings with congressmen and department officials.
