The Senator had protested against the sale being conducted as a single unit, suggesting that it be sold in separate or smaller units to allow for fair bidding. Another letter from Poteau, Oklahoma also protested against the sale of 23,000 acres of timber land as one unit, stating that it goes against the best interest of Indian owners and small mill men.";
