- Description:
- The Department of the Interior's Office of Indian Affairs in Oklahoma is undergoing reorganization due to budget cuts. The Western Oklahoma Consolidated Agency is being established in Anadarko, with other agencies being consolidated there as well. The Muskogee agency will continue with reduced staff and will also oversee the Quapaw Agency. Reduction in services to Indians is expected, but efforts will be made to serve their interests. Schools and hospitals operated by the Indian Service will not be affected. Reduction in personnel will follow Civil Service Commission regulations, with preference given to Indian employees.
