He also mentioned his visit to a Tulsa nursing home to see a seasoned Republican newspaper man. The Chief requested assistance in reducing unemployment and improving tribal management. In response, a letter from the Speaker of Indian Affairs informed the Chief of a bill that had been passed to provide public jobs and assistance to depressed areas, including those in the Old Choctaw Nation.
