<dcterms:description>The Ponca Indian Business Council sent a petition to Senator Elmer Thomas requesting assistance to prevent the removal of the Disbursing department from the Pawnee Indian Agency to a remote location. The Office of Indian Affairs clarified in a letter to Senator Thomas that the decision to consolidate disbursing activities under the Division of Disbursement was made by the President, not the Office of Indian Affairs. The Council expressed concerns about the inconvenience and hardship this move would cause for tribal members, and requested that the department be relocated to a more accessible location. Senator Thomas assured the Council that he would keep their concerns in mind and work towards finding a solution.</dcterms:description>
